Allow Your Home To Make You Feel Grounded: 7 Ways

You don’t have to watch the news to know how unsettling the world feels nowadays.

I mean all you have to do is step outside and feel the energy around you. You feel the fear, the nervousness and the anxiety people are feeling and you don’t want to bring those vibes back into your space when you return home from doing all the things and running all the errands.

So it’s important to have elements in our home that can neutralize all of those anxious vibes through grounding.

Elements that allow us to feel connected to the earth and in return make us feel calm and peaceful.

A space that allows us to return to ourselves.

So how do we allow our home to make us feel grounded?

By bringing in items that come from the earth into our home. So let’s break down the list of all the things that can allow your home to make you feel grounded.

Allow Your Home To Make You Feel Grounded: Wood

Wood comes from trees and trees have roots. Roots are what allow trees to stand straight and go unfazed by all that’s happening around them.

You can bring in wood elements into your home through your furniture like media cabinets, coffee tables, bookcases, tables, etc. The larger the piece the more grounded it will make you feel.

If you’re feeling design trendy, add a wood wall to your room, like my girl, Carmeon Hamilton did here and below.

Allow Your Home To Make You Feel Grounded: Plants

Whether you are a plant mom or not, bringing in plants into your home allows you to connect with mother earth. For my, “I can’t keep plants alive to save my life” people, you can always bring in fake plants. You can easily find fake plants that look real as hell nowadays so get to exploring.

Let’s not forget how plants purify the air from chemicals in the air and provide protection from negative vibes so two more reasons why plants are it in an environment.

Allow Your Home To Make You Feel Grounded: The Color Black

Maybe wood isn’t your fav material and I respect that. Try adding the color black into your space instead. It can be as bold as painting a wall or room black to bringing in accessories like pillows, vases or picture frames into your space.

The color black screams grounding. Now maybe scream wasn’t the best word to use if we’re trying to feel all calm and peaceful, but you get what i”m saying here. The color black represents the root chakra, which is the chakra of peace, safety and stability.

Feeling all the things, but these feelings? Try adding an element of black into your home and let me know how you feel once you’re done.

Allow Your Home To Make You Feel Grounded: Crystals

I mean you can’t get any closer to mother earth than crystals. They are excavated from the earth so it’s a no brainer.

I love black crystals specifically for their grounding elements. My favs are Black Tourmaline, Hematite, Onyx and Smokey Quartz. Not only do black crystals protect us from all the bad vibes, but they also protect us from EMFs (Electric Magnetic Frequencies) that we’re exposed to through our gadgets.

For those of us who work from home or love to Netflix, add some black crystals to your space to feel grounded and less light headed.

Allow Your Home To Make You Feel Grounded: Sage, Palo Santo, Incense

All three come from the earth: one is an herb, the other is literally a tree and the other comes from both. Use them for their amazing scent to help ground you.

It’s one of the sensory tricks my therapist taught me to bring down my anxious thoughts and help to calm me down. Take a deep breath and notice the scents around you. What do they smell like? What do they remind you of?

Sage, palo santo and incense are all woodsy scents and instantly remind you of mother earth. I mean how much more grounded can one get?

Allow Your Home To Make You Feel Grounded: Artwork

Add an art piece with natural elements into your space. Maybe it’s a scene of the ocean, a forest, or even the mountains.

Whenever you feel those anxious thoughts starting to creep in, just take a deep breath and look at it, but take it a step further and allow yourself to connect to it and feel all of the elements of the artwork. You’ll instantly feel calmer and grounded.

Allow Your Home To Make You Feel Grounded: Textures

If you live on a busy street like I do, noise can be anything but calm and it’s something you have no control over. Hello NYC streets!?

You many not be able to control the noise, but you can help to minimize it adding sound barriers to your home and what I mean by sound barriers are textures. Try adding a rug, thicker curtains or some throw pillows to help reduce the noise levels. I already feel zen.
