How can I be certain that we will work well together?

I’ll be straight with you and let you know upfront that I do not work well with control freaks.

I’m the expert and with that said, if you are not willing to let go and trust in me during the design process so that magic can happen, we will not work well together. This is necessary so that I can do my thing as a creative, so if you’re a control freak, then I am not the Decorator for you. You will be better off working with someone else.

Also, if you’d rather pay an Interior Decorator to not only create your room design, but to also come over to your home and put the design together for you (ie; put together furniture, hang curtains, style your bookcase, order items, etc) then I’m also not the Decorator for you since my services are virtual meaning I provide you with a design plans including detailed guidance fo you to put the design together on your own. For anything you may not have the skill or time to do such as painting or hanging wallpaper, Task Rabbit will be your best friend.

Lastly, I love me a colorful and moody space filled with mid-century, glam and bohemian vibes. These are the spaces that hold my heart. If this design style isn’t your thing, it’ll be best if you find someone else to work with.

Do you work with people who live outside of NYC and northern NJ?

Yes I do, since my services can also be done online via Zoom. This allows me to work with people outside of NYC/northern NJ so there’s no need for me to step foot into your room to design it for you.

What if I don’t like something you select?

In about 2 weeks from the date of your consultation, I will send you a preliminary design, which will include the items selected for your room based on the feedback from our consultation. You will then review the preliminary design and provide feedback. This will be your ONLY chance to let me know what changes you’d like to see in the design.

So please don’t be shy. I want you to be truthful with me. This is your room and you will be spending time in it so I ask that you be forthcoming.

Selecting items for your room is a very intuitive process and one that takes time to complete. With that said when changes are requested, it pivots the design and prolongs the design process.

Any changes requested after the preliminary design has been approved will result in a charge of an additional design fee. This will also cause your design to be delayed so to avoid this from happening, please be as forthcoming as possible when expressing your wants and needs and vision for your room.

What is the difference between your decorating services and a traditional onsite decorating service?

Also, if you’d rather work with a traditional Interior Decorator that will come over to your home and put the design together for you (ie; assemble furniture, hang curtains, style your bookcase, order items, etc) then I’m also not the Decorator for you since my services are virtual. I provide you with a design plan including detailed guidance for you to put the design together on your own. For anything you may not have the skill or time to do such as painting or hanging wallpaper, Task Rabbit will be your best friend.

Are you willing to work with items that I already own?

Only if you love them!  We are elevating your space to match your vibe remember? So we are purging any items that don’t match the new vision for your space.

What if an item that you select for me is out of stock?

I wish stores kept items in stock forever. I really do, but unfortunately, stores make changes to their inventory.

I suggest you purchase the items on your shopping list within 14 days after approving the design plan to reduce the risk of an item being out of stock. Should an item be out of stock after the 14 day window, you will be required to find a comparable item (please refer to the description section of your shopping list to find a replacement item). Any additional sourcing requests after the 14 days will be subject to an hourly rate charge.

When can I expect to receive my complete room design?

In about 4 weeks from the date room measurements are submitted. See below for an idea of what goes into the time frame:

  • how long it takes for you to get back to me with feedback on your preliminary design (I don’t move forward until your feedback has been received)

  • upon receipt of full payment if you’ve opted for a payment plan.

Do you offer refunds? 

The Virtual Room Makeover Deluxe service is not cheap. It’s an investment in your environment and your well being. I don’t create predictable Pinterest designs. I create designs that are unique to my clients and that are an extension of who they are.

I get that you want to feel safe making this investment in yourself and your environment so to give you some peace of mind, I will work with you until you love your final design.
