There's something about nature and all of its elements that really relax and makes me feel good.  I think that it has to do with how it reminds me of DR (btw that's short for Dominican Republic) or just anywhere tropical and relaxing.  The colors, scents, textures (I can go on and on and I promise, I'll get to the tips), but let's just say that it just soothes me.

It's one of reasons why I always find a way to bring nature into my room.  If you're like me and crave that relaxation, then learning about ways to bring nature into your apartment is something that you should be doing for your space.  Even in the tiniest of ways and yeah this can be done.  There's something about nature and all of its elements that really makes me feel good. Now when you hear the word nature and room in the same sentence, the first thing that probably comes to mind are plants, but if you're not a plant person like me (somehow I always seem to kill anything that doesn't have a pulse), I have four kids and they are all still breathing, but plants? They just don't survive under my watch.

We just don't go well together (if you can relate, check out this post on kill proof ways to decorate with plants).

I guess what I'm trying to say is that there is hope for you to bring nature into your apartment if you're not a plant lover.

Now onto the tips...

Bring Nature Into Your Apartment: #1 Scents

How a room smells whether good or bad can really put you in some type of mood.  It's also a way to bring nature into your apartment.  There are so many nature-like scents out there from lavender, teakwood, beach scents, to sea salt, etc.

You can get candles, oils, incense sticks or even potpourri (if you're into the old school stuff).  All of these are ways to remind you of the outdoors and bring nature into your apartment.

Bring Nature Into Your Apartment: #2 Flowers

There's something about flowers that just make me feel happy.  Their smell, the colors and textures just remind me of the outdoors and really put a smile on my face.So go and buy yourself a bouquet, break it apart and put a few stems in different vases and spread them throughout your apartment.  It's that easy.

Bring Nature Into Your Apartment: #3 Plants

For all of my green thumb people out there, plants are an obvious way to bring nature into your room. You can try different things like a tall floor plant in a corner, use potted plants as accessories in your room (in your bookcase or coffee table as a paperweight), on your window sill or hang some pots from your ceiling too.  Just get creative with them.

Bring Nature Into Your Apartment: #4 Literally Bring It Inside

Bring real elements like rocks, branches or sea shells into your home.  You can put some in a clear vase or bowl for a center piece.

You can even get a soothing water feature or fountain, which is also one of the elements of Feng Shui (if you're into Feng Shui).

Bring Nature Into Your Apartment: #5 Textures

Nature can also remind you of wildlife, but if you're an animal lover, you probably want to get something that's faux fur or that has animal prints.  It can be a zebra print rug/throw, or cheetah print pillow.Click here to check out ways to bring animal prints into your decor without having your room look like a hot mess. This doesn't have to be complicated.  It's the little details that can easily bring some of the outdoors into your room.

Bring Nature Into Your Apartment: #6 Colors

Maybe you really want to keep things simple and one way to do that is to pick a color scheme for your apartment that is outdoorsy and reminds you of nature.Don't have a clue about creating a color scheme for your room?  Click here where I school you on easy ways to pick colors for your room.Think green for grass, blue for the sky or ocean, any other colors to remind you of colorful flowers or even browns to remind you of wood or trees.
