Things To Remember When Shopping For Your Room: #1 Choose Wisely

It's easy to get sucked into an item that's on sale and go running for the register, but before you do that, get a grip on yourself and ask yourself two questions:

  1.  Does this go with the rest of the things in my room?  You want to make sure that your room looks cohesive.  The eclectic look is cool and I encourage you to mix things up if that's your thing, but what you want to avoid, is your room looking like a decorating mess, full of pieces that just don't go well together.
  2. Is it the right size?  You want to make sure that the piece fits well in your room.  That it's not too big or too small for your room, but just right.  Having the wrong size piece in your room will make your room look weird as hell.

Just imagine a tiny side table next to a big sofa.  Not cool at all.[magicactionbox id="7146"]

Things To Remember When Shopping For Your Room: #2 Preparation

This leads me to my next tip: measure, measure and measure some more.  In a nut shell, you should never go shopping without having first measured your room.  Ever. This will keep you track when looking for pieces since you can easily bypass anything that doesn't fall within your measurements. Now taking measurements of your room doesn't have to be a fancy project at all.  Not sure how to measure your room?  Check this post for easy tips.[magicactionbox id="7146"]

Things To Remember When Shopping For Your Room: #3 Focus

We've all been there.  We go into a store.  Maybe it's Ikea, World Market, West Elm or whatever and our eyeballs start popping out.  It's like we become stuck on stupid or something and just want buy the whole damn store.  All of a sudden, we really need a coffee table when we don't even drink coffee! lolYou get my drift.  Right?  We become distracted by all of the home decor beauty around us and lose focus. That's why you must snap out of it and stay focused.  Enter the store with a plan in mind or even better yet on paper so that you don't get distracted by all of the goodness around you.  Go in, get what you came for and come out quickly and satisfied.  Your room will thank you for it since you're not buying any unnecessary shit for your room.
